Oh, my! The whole summer and the beginning of the school year has slipped away. It is time to get busy with updating my blog. I recently made some thank you cards to give to several people that have been kind and thoughtful to me in the last few weeks. The stamps are from Rubber Stamp Tapestry and all other supplies are from Stampin' Up.

I talked to my friend, Walter, from my college days, today. It was nice talking to him. He always makes me smile especially when he begins the conversation with "Julie, Julie, Julie, do you love me.....A Monkee's song, I think! It's been so long I don't remember but I do remember him singing it in the library at UM-Dearborn when everyone was quietly studying! That reminds me of Sanders bumpy cake which Jane, Charlene, Walter, and I would purchase at A&P and split four ways when we weren't studying! Yum!!!!! The good old days.....

I worked on thank you cards for the Yes Foundation volunteers that have helped our 1st graders who are reluctant learners this year. Tuesday is the last day of tutoring and they have been extremely supportive and professional. Julie, Jocelyn, and I wanted to do something special for the eight tutors so Julie is potting flowers, Jocelyn is getting candy and gift bags, and I made cards.

Wow! So much has happened since I last posted to my blog. In summary, winter and spring break have come and gone; Jimmy bought me a used kiln for my birthday; my best friend's mom, Joan Naster, passed away on Good Friday; a neighbor, Ed Camilleri, that was loved by many, passed away unexpectedly; I renewed my love of scrapbooking by attending my first all day crop; Georgia's Gift Gallery closed and Fifi's opened (I will still be making charms); I learned that Sierra, a golden retriever, is seriously ill; I turned 55 and I decided that I want to do more with my art. When your heart speaks, take good notes! Life is too short!

Today I entered my new favorite website with the art of Roben-marie Smith. Her blog which is connected with Paperbag Studios is wonderful! I just received two sheets of rubber stamps and I need more!

With spring comes new beginnings!

I finished my mom's butterfly windchimes after wandering around Michael's for an hour looking for something to suspend them from. I finally settled on a bamboo purse handle and hemp to add to the natural look. Now all I have to do is trim the strings a little.

Jimmy and I went to Frankenmuth yesterday. Just thinking of the buttered noodles makes my mouth water. Yum!!!!!

My friend, Margaret, always sends the best cards but this time she outdid herself. She sent a card to the Golden Gang from Auntie Margaret and it is the cutest card I have ever seen. It made me smile again and again and again. If you know who the Monkees are, if you remember the song, "I'm a Believer", and if you like Golden Retrievers, then you are going to LOVE this card! I feel a scrapbook page coming!

The last card is done! My first big accomplishment for my vacation!

Card number five is my favorite so far. What I like about Stampin' Up is that you can make a nice card rather quickly!

The fourth card is plain and simple, but cute! Bugs and kisses!

I can't wait to get my distress inks. The third card has just a touch of an idea that I discovered the other night by Robin Beam. It's called the bandanna technique.

I just finished the second card for Dianne's party. I think it needs some glitter! I used the faux cracked glass technique. That's hard to see in the picture. :) !

I made the first sample card for Dianne's Stampin' Up party on March 8 tonight. It has been a long day since I returned to school after being sick for three days, but I had an idea for trying the Warhol technique. Think spring!

I finished my Valentine cards last night and Jimmy is putting them in the mail today. I am home from school because I have an upper respiratory infection. It's nice to be home; not so nice to be so sick.

I made a thank you card for Dr. Peterson for getting me in so quickly when I had my eye infection; not once, but twice! This is the perfect stamp for an eye doctor. The card was quick and simple but from the heart.

I can't believe almost an entire month has gone by without posting. My most recent creation was for the January Technique Junkie Just One Swap. My swap partner, Kathay, was very patient while I got through report cards, parent-teacher conferences, an eye infection, and the flu. I will be glad when this month is over!

It's back to school for me tomorrow. Jimmy and I have both been under the weather since Thursday. I haven't felt very creative. We were very surprised to see much of the snow melted today when we went to breakfast. It was very foggy. I much prefer the scene from last Tuesday. I don't think a snow dance will help me extend my vacation tomorrow. Oh, well!

One of my goals over Christmas vacation was to complete the shadowbox that I started as a tribute to Harley Davidson, our 14 year old Golden Retriever who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on June 15, 2007. I finished it today. Jimmy and I will decide on a place to hang it tomorrow. Harley and his brother, Stevie Ray, are thought about with love and fond memories every day.

Today I finished decorating a Valentine's Day tree at Georgia's Gift Gallery in Livonia. It was fun! That was my creation for the day since there was no time to work on my crafts.

My vacation is quickly coming to an end! I am going to miss spending the day doing all of the things that I do not get a chance to do when I am working. I made several dog cards yesterday in varying colors. I love the details of Quickutz dies. The Scrapping Cottage has a large selection of Quickutz products and Joanne is extremely helpful. All of my online shopping experiences with her have been very positive.

Jimmy and I have finished shoveling most of the snow and now I am experimenting with my blog. It is a great day to stay in and "play" with my crafts. I plan to work on my cards for the dog show at Cobo Hall in March once I am finished on the computer.
